Abstract

Nycanthes arbor tristis is considered as a traditional medicinal plant in the southern parts of tamilnadu. In this present study, an attempt was taken to investigate the antimicrobial activities of Nyctanthes arbor – tristis (NAT) extracts. Phytochemical analysis showed the presence of alkaloids, phenols, aminoacids, protein, phytosterols, glycosides, terpenoids, flavonoids, carbohydrates, and alkaloids. The antibacterial activity was exhibited against several gram positive and negative strains. The antifungal activity was found against Aspergillus niger, Alternaria alternata and Helmithosporium solani.
