Abstract

The Study focuses on Human capital development and organizational performance: an evidence from Nigeria Breweries Plc. Specifically the study aimed to pursue the following objectives: to determine the effect of competencies on organizational performance of Nigeria Breweries PLC, ascertain the nature of the relationship between knowledge on organizational performance of Nigeria Breweries PLC, and determine influence of work experience on organizational performance of Nigeria Breweries PLC. The study had a population size of 1204 employees of the understudied organization. A sample size 300 was determined using Taro Yamene at 5% error tolerance and 95% level of confidence. Instruments used for data collection were primarily questionnaire. A total number of 300 copies of the questionnaire were distributed while 278 copies were returned & used while 22 copies were not properly filled and discarded. Survey research design was adopted for the study. Three hypotheses were tested using Pearson product moment correlation coefficient and simple linear regression tools. The findings indicated that ccompetencies positively significantly affected organizational performance of Nigeria Breweries PLC. There was a positive relationship between knowledge and organizational performance of Nigeria Breweries PLC. Work experience has significantly influenced organisational performance of Nigeria Breweries PLC. The study concluded that human capital development is the backbone for business sustainability in the organization. The study recommends that Nigeria Breweries should ensure that their employees are send on training that will equip them with, competencies, knowledge, skills and work experiences that will help them in discharging their duties and achieving organizational desired goals.
