Abstract

The effect of plant debris on the quantity and quality of humus, the degree of humification of individual organs of cotton, alfalfa and ephemers, their effect on the content and composition of soil organic matter was studied in the paper. The effect of plant debris of cotton and alfalfa on the humus content was studied in a small-plot field experiment. According to the results of these experiments, the balance of humus and the humification coefficient were calculated. The results obtained are of great theoretical and practical importance in solving the problem of creating a favorable humus conditions in soils and increasing their fertility; scientifically- based use of fertilizers; and the results can be used in educational process in higher educational institutions.
