Abstract

Ziziphus joazeiro fitting to the Rhamnaceae lineage, local natural small shrubby tree, which is cultivated in almost all parts of Brazil, commonly called Juazeiro. Extracts of Z. joazeiro are significant in drug advancement with pharmacological properties. For a prolonged period, Z. joazeiro has been applicable in substitute drugs in the support of the healing of high temperature, headache, dandruff, sores, bronchitis, gastric boils, respiratory problems, topical healing and hepatic disease. Z. joazeiro has lately been revealed anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-oxidant, anti-staphylococcal, anti-parasitic, spasmogenic, anti-tumour, anti-mutagenic, anthelmintic, anti-pyretic and anti-inflammatory activities. Flavonoids, saponins and alkaloids are major phytochemicals which were investigated from this tree. Due to relaxed collection of tree materials, it’s being inexpensive and extensive in nations then too extraordinary organic properties; this has suited for food and medication in some portion of biosphere, specifically through Brazil. In this reviewwere offered inclusive analysed report on chemical, pharmacological and biological features of Z. joazeiro.
