This research is intended to examine the impact of job performance on career success among
teachers in Malaysian school context. Two dimensions of job performance such as task performance
and organisational citizenship behaviour (OCB) were investigated in this research. This examination
contributed for a further information by embracing the different perceptions of job performance
evaluations towards teachers’ career success in the forms of self and management-ratings. The
information was obtained through mail survey from 390 respondents. The findings confirmed that selfrating
of task performance was the just factor that related with teachers’ intrinsic career success.
There were no huge connections between self-ratings of OCB on either teachers’ extrinsic career
success or teachers’ intrinsic career success. This examination demonstrated that managementrating
of OCB was the main factor that related with teachers’ intrinsic career success. There were no
noteworthy connections between management-ratings of task performance on teachers' extrinsic
career success, as well as on teachers’ intrinsic career success. This investigation contributed some
new information which can be directed to the Ministry of Education (MOE) to improve the degree of
task performance and OCB among teachers, especially in the Malaysian school setting.
